Totality Treatment Center provides sex and love addiction treatment in West Los Angeles as part of our Joint Commission–accredited Intensive Outpatient (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization (PHP) programs. Clients attend weekly gender-separated process groups facilitated by a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT), alongside individual therapy, psychiatric care, and trauma-focused treatment. Sex and love addiction programming at Totality is built around two weekly process groups facilitated by Maia Fohrman, LCSW (California BBS License 112144), CSAT — a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Sex Addiction Therapist credentialed through the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP):

Groups are gender-separated by design. Sex and love addiction recovery involves disclosure of intimate material, and clinical research consistently shows that gender-specific groups increase psychological safety, honesty, and engagement for this population.
These groups are a component of Totality’s IOP and PHP levels of care. Clients enroll in the full program — 3 hours per day, 3 to 5 days per week for IOP, or 6 hours per day, 5 days per week for PHP — and participate in the sex and love addiction track as part of their individualized treatment plan.

Sex and love addiction rarely occurs in isolation. Most clients present with co-occurring substance use or mental health conditions, and Totality is structured as a dual diagnosis facility specifically to treat these conditions together rather than separately.
Trauma-Focused Care
Compulsive sexual behavior is strongly linked to underlying trauma. Totality’s clinical team includes Madeleine Dem, ASW (California BBS Registration 124439), an EMDR-trained therapist who provides trauma processing alongside the CSAT group track.
