A compassionate approach to self-harm
Self-harm rarely exists on its own — it’s usually tied to depression, anxiety, trauma, or intense emotions that are hard to manage. We treat the whole picture, without judgment. Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is especially effective here, teaching real skills for riding out distress, regulating emotions, and building a life that feels worth staying present for — alongside individual therapy, group support, and psychiatric care.
Our outpatient programs
- PHP — full-day structured care with clinical and psychiatric integration
- IOP — several sessions a week, built around work, school, or family
- IIP — a fully individualized plan for complex needs (private/cash-pay option)
Does insurance cover treatment?
Usually, yes — under mental health parity law. We’re in-network with both HMO and PPO plans from Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield of California, Health Net, Optum (UnitedHealthcare), and Blue Cross Blue Shield, and we also accept some out-of-network PPO plans, such as Aetna PPO. We verify your benefits free before you commit. (Our IIP program is available as a private/cash-pay option.)

Frequently asked questions
Is self-harm the same as wanting to end your life?
Not always — many people self-harm to cope with emotional pain, not to end their life. But it’s serious and deserves care. If thoughts of suicide are present, please call or text 988 right away.
What helps stop self-harm?
Treatment that teaches healthier coping skills (DBT is a leader here) and addresses the underlying depression, anxiety, or trauma. Recovery is absolutely possible.
