Totality Treatment Center runs a primary mental health track — structured PHP and IOP programs in West Los Angeles for adults whose main concern is depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, trauma, or another mental health condition. You do not need a substance use problem to enroll. Programming is led by Clinical Director Brooke Adams, PsyD, a licensed clinical psychologist, with psychiatric care from Medical Director Ian R. Tofler, MD. We are Joint Commission accredited and DHCS licensed for mental health treatment.
Mental Health as the Primary Diagnosis — Not an Afterthought
Many outpatient programs in Los Angeles are addiction programs that also mention mental health. Totality’s mental health track works the other way: clients are admitted with a primary psychiatric diagnosis — major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, BPD — and their treatment plan is built by a doctoral-level clinical team around that diagnosis. Clients in the mental health track attend mental-health-focused groups and individual therapy; nothing about the programming assumes a substance use history.
“We look at the whole person. We look at all the factors in their life, their dreams and hopes and what’s going to give them purpose — we do not give a cookie-cutter treatment plan.” — Dr. Brooke Adams, PsyD, Clinical Director

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a mental health IOP in Los Angeles that isn’t a rehab?
Yes. Totality Treatment Center runs a primary mental health IOP in West Los Angeles — 3 hours per day, 3 to 5 days per week — for adults whose main concern is depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, or another psychiatric condition. No substance use diagnosis is required. The program is led by a licensed clinical psychologist and a board-certified psychiatrist. Call (855) 619-5383.
Can I attend PHP for depression or anxiety without an addiction problem?
Yes. Totality’s mental health PHP admits clients with a primary psychiatric diagnosis — no substance use disorder required. The program runs 6 hours per day, 5 days per week, with daily psychiatric access, individual therapy, and mental-health-focused groups.
What is a mental health day program?
A mental health day program (PHP) provides full-day structured psychiatric treatment — group therapy, individual therapy, medication management — while you sleep at home. It is the most intensive level of care short of hospitalization, typically used for acute depression, anxiety, or mood instability, or as a step-down after a hospital stay.
Does Totality offer TMS or EEG testing?
Yes. Through its partnership with MindHealthMD, Totality clients have access to TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation), and the clinical assessment process can include EEG and biofeedback to identify biological factors contributing to symptoms.
Can I do a mental health program while working?
Yes. The mental health IOP is available in person, virtually anywhere in California, or hybrid, and includes an evening track designed for people who work or study during the day.
Does insurance cover mental health PHP and IOP?
Yes — mental health PHP and IOP are standard behavioral-health benefits. Totality is in-network with Blue Shield of California, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Optum, and Health Net, and accepts Aetna PPO and other PPO plans. Call (855) 619-5383 for a free benefits verification.
