Monica began her career as a behavioral health technician, where her natural rapport with clients and dedication to their well-being quickly became apparent. Her role evolved to business development, where she continues to support clients throughout their journey, often standing by them from the very first steps. Castle Brusa

Castle Brusa is a dedicated leader and Chief Operating Officer whose passion for helping others has been a cornerstone of his career. With a background in recovery and extensive experience in Bay Area nonprofits, Castle has overseen large client censuses, developing his expertise in client-centered, impactful care. Seeking a fresh start, he moved to Los Angeles, progressing from a tech position to lead tech and then to compliance, driven by his deep commitment to supporting individuals in their recovery journeys.
Now a certified CADAC, Castle’s credentials enable him to be involved in all aspects of client care. Transitioning from nonprofit work to a supervisory role at a luxury treatment center, he leverages his comprehensive experience to ensure each individual receives exceptional, personalized treatment. Castle’s dedication and multifaceted role have a profound impact on the lives of those he serves, fostering lasting change and hope every day.
Judy Scafer, CADC II

Judy Scafer is a dynamic and compassionate Group Facilitator whose personal journey has profoundly shaped her commitment to helping others. After a life-changing experience involving a DUI that led to the loss of life, Judy began her path to recovery and transformation while in prison. Determined to turn her pain into purpose, she earned her CADC certification, channeling her energy into supporting those navigating their own recovery journeys.
Dr. Brooke Adams, PsyD

Dr. Brooke Adams, a licensed clinical psychologist and Clinical Director with nearly five years in the role, is known for her compassionate, multifaceted approach to mental health care. With extensive experience since 2011 in mental health and a focus on co-occurring disorders since 2013, Dr. Adams combines her clinical expertise with a strong, non-judgmental client focus, adeptly managing high-acuity cases and deescalating challenging situations with grace and empathy.
Dr. Adams has a deep understanding of a wide range of mental health diagnoses, from severe mental illness and personality disorders to depression and anxiety. She believes in addressing the underlying causes to achieve lasting freedom from addiction, treating the whole person by considering mental health diagnoses, genetics, neuropsychology, family context, social relationships, trauma, and self-worth. Skilled in a variety of evidence-based modalities, she incorporates mindfulness, spirituality, and psychodynamic approaches to support clients through their healing journey.
Dr. Adams earned her B.A. in Psychology from San Diego State University in 2008, her M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University in 2013, and her Doctorate in Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2016. Author of The Impact of Mindfulness on the Quality of Life of Cancer Patients, Dr. Adams has also been a keynote speaker on addiction and is dedicated to helping clients discover their best selves, with renewed freedom and purpose. She passionately believes that “the greatest project you will ever work on is you,” guiding her clients toward lives they’re excited to live every day.

Starting his career as a detox technician, Gerard earned his CADC certification and quickly expanded his skill set, including roles as an intake specialist, group facilitator, and psych practice manager. With expertise in dual diagnosis, medication management, and treatment operations, Gerard guides clients from intake through to completion, ensuring comprehensive, individualized support at every stage.
Gerard’s in-depth knowledge spans all aspects of client progress and facility management, including licensing—a testament to his commitment to providing safe, high-quality care. His diverse experience and dedication to client success make him an invaluable resource for both clients and team members, facilitating recovery journeys with empathy and precision.

Pinaki Devaprakash, SUDCC

Pinaki Devaprakash is a dedicated and client-centered SUD Counselor and Case Manager who prioritizes meeting each individual exactly where they are in their recovery journey. Known for his authentic and caring nature, Pinaki quickly forms genuine connections with clients, making him a trusted and approachable figure in their support network.
Starting his career as a group facilitator, Pinaki pursued his SUDCC certification to work more directly with clients on a personal level. His commitment to individualized care shines as he listens deeply to each client’s needs, guiding them with compassion and respect. Outside of work, Pinaki enjoys spending time with his fiancée and is an avid CrossFit enthusiast, bringing the same energy and dedication to his personal life that he shares with his clients.
Nicholas Helgager, LMFT

Nickholas Helgager, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), brings a unique and compassionate approach to his role as a Primary Therapist at Totality. Having walked his own path of recovery, Nick understands firsthand the challenges and triumphs of the journey. Beginning his career as a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT), he quickly became a vital resource, especially during the COVID pandemic, where he provided therapy to clients who couldn’t attend in person.
As a former client of some of Totality’s staff, Nick’s transition to a fully licensed therapist and part of the team underscores his commitment to giving back. He firmly believes that, with time and compassion, even the most challenging cases can transform and find a renewed life in recovery. Nick’s empathetic approach and dedication inspire clients to see their own potential, helping them embrace a future filled with hope and healing.

Beginning her career with an internship at another practice, Kimberly found her calling in the SUD space, where her caring, motherly demeanor has become a source of comfort and inspiration for clients. Both staff and clients appreciate Kimberly’s empathy and dedication, and she is known for her unique ability to connect on a deep level, often motivating individuals to make life-enhancing changes.
Kimberly also leads a generational patterns group focused on breaking cycles that can be unknowingly passed down through families. Her insightful guidance in this group helps clients recognize and reshape these patterns, fostering lasting personal growth. Kimberly’s compassion and skill have made her an invaluable part of the Totality team, supporting clients on their journey toward healthier, more fulfilling lives.
